Light moves across a hillside. A bull elk disappears into the morning fog. A salamander crosses the driveway. A bird settles into the marsh. An ordinary moment becomes something worth remembering.
Bearing Witness grew from a desire to slow down long enough to notice.
The camera has become one way of learning to see. Writing is another. Both are invitations to pay closer attention to creation, to the people and places around us, and ultimately to the Creator whose fingerprints are everywhere.

I'm Joe Gerhart—a pastor, writer, wildlife photographer, and speaker living among the hills and valleys of rural north-central Pennsylvania.
Bearing Witness grew from something I've been learning for years: much of life is easy to miss.
Photography has taught me to wait. Writing has taught me to pay attention. Ministry has taught me that some of the most important moments happen quietly.
This is a place where those worlds meet—faith and creation, beauty and suffering, stories and Scripture, the wild and the ordinary.
